{Review} Constellation (Constellation #1) by Jennifer Locklear (@RandomCran @EnchantedPub)10/26/2016
She's intelligent, beautiful, and emotionally numb.
He's older, sophisticated, and harboring secrets. Up-and-coming executive, Kathleen Brighton is ready to launch her family's firm into the next level of success. Polished and professional on the outside, Kathleen's personal life is a source of constant struggle and letdown. But after one night alone with Jack Evans, her sexy new colleague, her life takes a turn toward erotic intensity. Torn between her instinct to guard herself and her irresistible desire for Jack, Kathleen has only known heartache. And when she finds herself in the middle of a shattering personal crisis, she must trust fragile and uncertain bonds to survive. Will Kathleen conquer the demons of her past to find a future worth fighting for?
Kathleen Brighton hides all of her hurt under a professional veneer. She’s convinced herself that she’s content with watching all of her friends get married and start their families. After all, she is next in line to take the helm at Aurora Advertising when her father is ready to step down.
Their father/daughter relationship has been more than a little strained ever since the death of her mother and neither one of them has been willing to bridge the ever-growing chasm between them. So Kathleen pours all that she is into being perfect on the outside. But on the inside, her delicate house of cards could come tumbling down at any moment. Until the one night when she gives into her desire for Jack Evans – the exception to her every rule. Jack Evans was a man capable of riling intense stirrings in me. He broke through my heavy defenses just by uttering a word or offering me a wandering look. No one had ever left me as raw and translucent as he did. He troubled and confused me, and in doing so, made me understand just how numb to my own life I’d become. And I didn’t have the first clue how to process this avalanche of enlightenment.
Jack Evans has learned a lot in his forty-eight years. Now divorced with a young daughter, he’s determined to make a name for himself at Aurora.
No matter how he tries, he can’t help but notice the unassuming beauty of Kathleen. Together they will unleash a raging desire that will border upon obsession. But when tragedy strikes, will they both walk away or brave the flames together? “I will always be gentle with my touch,” he whispered. “I will always be sincere with my words.”
Constellation is nothing like I expected! I was ready for more of Jennifer’s trademark brand of intellectual romance laced with quick wit. Instead, I found myself in the grips of a hauntingly emotional love story. It’s equal parts wildly erotic and heartbreakingly angsty and it left me with an ache in my chest can only be cured by the installment.
This is Jennifer as I’ve never seen her before and I was simply blown away… Get This Book!
