Margot Duke can’t keep her long-distance relationship alive any more than she can the cells that are supposed to be taking center stage in her PhD thesis. Both seem to be suffering an inexplicably long and drawn-out death, and she’s spent more than enough time fretting about it, without any solution in sight.
It figures that the one day she chooses to pack it all in and stop caring is the day she meets Jonathan Young.
Jonathan swings through town with his band, just long enough to knock Margot off her feet, and leave her feeling a little giddy in his wake. The encounter proves once and for all that her inter-continental love affair is over, but can she really stomach the idea of starting another one right on its heels? And with the darling of the indie rock world at that?
Margot Duke considered herself to be a superfan of the band, Paperclouds. When she finds out that they will be playing in Bonn, she recruits some co-workers to go with her to check out the show.
To her amazement, the beautiful man that she watched with hungry eyes as he was setting up for the band wasn’t just a roadie – but Paperclouds’ lead singer – Jonathan Young. Their attraction is instant and overpowering. He’s only there for one night and she has to go back to her reality, so they have to walk away. But there is something about Jonathan that haunts her day and night.
Please, Margot. Please.
They begin a hot transatlantic love affair that sends her into a tailspin. She tries to convince herself that when their passion wanes, she will be able to walk away and not get hurt. And now that Jonathan and his band are on the verge of superstardom – that time may come sooner than she ever dreamed.
I had flung my heart at him recklessly, ignoring all of my better instincts, and he had thrown his back at me. But was it realistic to expect us to carry one another’s heart around while we were on opposite sides of the globe? A small part of me couldn’t help but wonder how he could possibly take proper care of mine while he was busy fending off the advances of his newfound admirers.
The Music of Temptation is another wickedly fun book by Verity Jacobs! She continues to delight with her signature brainy heroines and super swoony heroes. I have to admit that Jonathan is my favourite so far. He is the most perfect combination of sultry and sweet. After all, wouldn’t you want a seriously sexy rock star to write songs about you?
I’m thinking of packing up and hitting the road with the band…
