Eliot Anne Campbell has been trying to dig out from under her parent’s impossible expectations.  Her father wanted a boy, named her accordingly and she has spent most of her young life trying desperately to win his approval.  Her big brother is the only member of her family that understands her and even he’s in the dark about the sacrifices she’s had to make to help him keep his spot on the Western State Warriors football team. 

Then Ellie meets the infamous Knox Masters. She can’t deny her instant and total attraction to him.  He’s gorgeous, persistent and refreshingly pure. She knows that there are way too many reasons why she can’t give in to him but just being with Knox makes everything seem worth it.

No way is Knox Masters, all six-foot-six-inches of prime NFL bound manhood, a virgin. He’s got the wingspan of a god and his hands are big enough that I think they could actually span my waist, which is in no way tiny. When we walked in here, my brother looked almost small at six-four and two ten. I’m not sure what Masters weighs, but he’s solid everywhere. His thighs look like tree trunks, and his shoulders are so wide they blotted out the sun when he virtually accused me of creeping on him at six in the morning.

Knox has always gone after what he wanted.  He’s at the top of his game and he’s going to take it all the way. 

Fellow team members always wondered why he never gave into all of the temptation that comes with success. He just believed that waiting would be worth it.  So when he first encounters the girl who challenges him with her snark and unsuspecting beauty, he knows in his soul that she’s the one who will change everything.

Ellie’s been hurt before and her heart is full of secrets.  And Knox is going to prove to her that taking a risk on love is the best play of all.

“We don’t get to pick the family we’re born into,” he says into the quiet night. “But we do get to choose the family we live with. I choose you. You’re all that I’ll ever want.”

My throat closes up. The words I’d love to say back get choked by my fear. “Shh,” he whispers. He lays his broad hand over my left chest. “You don’t need to say anything, baby. I can hear your heart.”

That’s enough for him.

Sacked is one fabulously swoony read! I’m normally a bit skeptical about reading a football romance as I know almost nothing about the game itself.  But Jen’s characters are so completely real and their connection is so sweet and utterly consuming that I literally couldn’t put it down.

So suit up for Knox and Ellie to steal your heart, make you tremble and then leave you cheering…
