When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind. But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world. From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.
Lilliana Young lives a life of privilege in NYC. She has much more freedom and money than most seventeen year olds. What she doesn’t have is a true connection to another person.
She seeks solace within the hallowed halls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s the only place where she can let her guard down and be who she really wants to be. And one afternoon while looking for a quiet place to sketch in the Egyptian wing, she finds something simply extraordinary. A beautiful boy dressed like a pharaoh now stands in front of her demanding that she help him raise his brothers from the dead and save the world from evil. She knows that she must be crazy for believing him but something inside tells her that his quest is for real. She agrees to embark on this epic journey with him but she never thought she would be risking not only her life – but also her heart. “Who are you?” I whispered.
Every thousand years, Amon and his brothers are summoned to save all of mankind from The Dark One. This time he has arisen far from his homeland and he needs young Lily to help him navigate through this modern world. They share a special bond – one that links them together while he’s still alive. But as they get closer to completing their quest, he finds that she is as necessary to him as breathing.
Their time together is running out for Amon will soon return to the Land of the Dead. Will he be able to stay true to his cause even though his soul aches to be with Lily forever? “Amon’s eyes, more tawny now than green, bored into mine as if begging me to understand. He wanted me to accept his ancient notions of duty and obligation and let it go, but I was a modern girl, which meant I wasn’t going to sit like a princess who needed saving and pine for something I wanted. If there was one thing I knew about love, it was that it was worth fighting for, even if I had to pick up a sword to protect it. The miracle of finding love, real love, was a rare enough thing that it should give duty and obligation a run for their money.”
I haven’t been interested in reading YA for some time now but Colleen Houck has restored my faith with Reawakened! Not only is it incredibly complex and richly layered with everything from history to fast paced action but the heart wrenching longing between Amon and Lily will leave you completely breathless in the end.
This book took me totally by surprise and I loved every second of it… Get The Book -
