We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.

For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island -- leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for -- and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.

“I missed you, too, but you were never far.” Gage touched his shirt with the wings inside. “You were always there.”

Gage Montgomery had his life all planned out.  He was going to the Naval Academy in the fall and until then, he was going to enjoy his time on the beaches of St. Simons Island.  Until one day when he sees a young girl sitting in the sand reading a book.  Her angelic beauty immediately captures his attention and soon she also has his heart.

But Layla is hiding a painful secret and when she disappears without a trace, Gage moves on with his young life but he never forgets his angel.
“I used to sneak out into my backyard and sleep under the stars at home,” she said. “Dream about being. . . .” “

Dream about what?”

“You know, the usual stuff,” she said. “What’s the meaning of life? Why am I here? What’s my purpose? Why was the world created?”

Layla saw a puzzled look on his face. I sound like my grandmother. “Of course, I made wishes, too.”

“For what?”

She sat up. “That’s between me and the angels."
Layla Baxter ran for her life.  She knew that she should never tell Gage about the horrors of her real life.  He deserved to chase his dreams.  So she rebuilt herself starting with a new name and a new home.  She never thought that she would ever see her Gage again.  But sometimes, an angel leads you down a path to find your soul again.

It’s as if nothing has ever changed and their feelings for each other are even stronger than before.  But will they ever be able to get over the hurt of the past and finally have a future together?
“Let me tell you something about angels you obviously don’t know. Angels aren’t little winged fairies flying around granting wishes. They are warriors, fighters, protectors. You know who they fight? Demons and the evil in the world.”

She stiffened her spine. “ You like to call me ‘Angel’ because you think it’s cute and sweet. But I like it because I think it makes me a bad ass.”
Quiet Angel is both inspiring and poignant at the same time.  It’s a story about first love and first heartbreak.  It’s about being victimized and then fighting back.  And it’s also about never wasting a single moment.

Prescott’s sweetly passionate story will have you swooning until the very end and you might even have to smile through some tears…
