It seems that Cassie has spent most of her life trying to fill the void that Ethan Holt left behind.  Just when she thinks she can hold herself together, he’s back.

Working with him on this show may prove to be the death of her but Ethan is no longer just the boy who broke her heart.  He’s so much more.
“Uh… yeah. I’ve… well, I’ve been here for a while.  After I e-mailed you, I couldn’t sleep.  Couldn’t stop thinking about things.  You.” He looks down at the phone and shoves it in his pocket.  “I wanted to be near you, just in case you…” He smiles and shakes his head.  “I wanted to be here.  Close.”

His jacket is on the ground, crumpled next to a cardboard coffee cup.

“Ethan, how long have you been out here?”

“I told you, a whi-“

“How long, exactly?”

His smile masks something deeper.  Something desperate.

“A few hours, but in a way…” He looks at his feet and shakes his head again.  “I kind of feel like I’ve been waiting out here for three years, just trying to find the courage to knock on the door.  I guess that e-mail was my way of doing it.”

When he glances up again, for the first time in a long while, I see fear in his eyes. ‘The real question is, are you going to let me in?”
It took facing his own mortality to bring Ethan to the place where he is today.  He’s not going to waste another chance to show Cassie that they belong together.  But he had no idea how much damage was left in his wake and now it might be too late to piece their once all-consuming love back together again.
“Cassie, please.”
He’s barely hanging on.  I’m the same.  I can’t say no to him.  He might be the worst gamble I’ve ever made, but he also might be my one.  The one.  How can I not take a chance on that?
Just when I thought that the Starcrossed series couldn’t get any better, here comes Broken Juliet! Leisa continues this epic love-hate story with a mastery of moments so uproariously high and heartbreak so deep and low that it gave me the most fabulous case of whiplash.  It evokes emotions both raw and dizzy – and it held me completely captive until the glorious end…
