{Blog Tour & Giveaway} Promise Me This (Between Breaths #4) By Christina Lee (@Christina_Lee04)10/6/2014 A new love will test the boundaries of passion between a privileged boy next door and the tattooed, blue-haired girl who helps him embrace his wild side... Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl… Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly. With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart. Jessie isn’t the girl next door. She’s quirky, unassumingly beautiful and her personality is as colorful as her hair and her art. She’s also smart enough not to fall for guys like Nate. Rumor has it that he’s never with the same girl more than once and never looks back. One night, she accidently walks in on Nate and a girl – and her now she can’t stop thinking about him in ways that she never did before. She wants to peel back the layers and get a look at his true soul. Underneath all of his bravado is a frightened boy and she wants to be the one to help him out of the darkness. “But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to wondering about him. Wondering if there’d ever been someone real in his life. Someone who’d hurt him, made him so defensive that he now kept that part of himself tucked neatly away.” Nate has his reasons for never committing to a relationship. He grew in a family where privilege and violence were constant companions. He has vowed to break the cycle no matter what. But Jessie has awakened a desire in him that both surprises and frightens him and he knows that nothing between them will ever be the same. “As she sat there sipping her coffee, I wanted to grab her and shake her and make her see exactly what she’s done to me. How she’d sliced me open and laid me bare – exposed my inner parts that had been lying in the shadows. Then she’d know that I’d never forget what happened between us and would probably always fantasize about my night with her.” Promise Me This is another amazing example of why Christina Lee is one of my favourite New Adult authors! Her characters are simply unforgettable and her story lines are gritty and deep while still being sweet and seriously sexy. I loved the intense connection between Jessie and Nate and it was beyond emotional for me when Nate shared his best childhood memories with her. *Sighs* It went right for my heart and never let go… About The Author - Mother, wife, reader, dreamer. Christina lives in the Midwest with her husband and son--her two favorite guys. She's addicted to lip gloss, salted caramel everything, and believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job. Visit With Christina - |
