Ruby Cameron thought that her life was pretty good. She had a job that liked and had just moved in with her boyfriend. All that came crumbling down when she arrives home unexpectedly and finds him with another girl.
Starting all over, she moves into a flat that used to be a part of the infamous Imperial Theater that closed down shortly after a young rock star was killed there in the 1980’s. She never could have guessed that it would take a ghost to lead her to who she really is and to a love that she never expected.
“I know I sometimes give the impression I’m a cynical journalist with no romance in her soul. It isn’t true though. Imagine meeting someone who made you feel uninhibited and loved more than anything or anyone else in the world. Who’d write a song about you. Someone who, with just a look, could make your heart sing. And of course supply mind-blowing, knicker-fizzing sex. Stevie Nicks has sung about men like that. Guys who made rooms literally combust, simply by walking in. Luke wouldn’t make a room ignite when he entered it. He’d want to give it a thorough spring clean instead.”
Steven Valentine used to be known as “Stevie Vee” when he was the gorgeous and talented lead singer for the up and coming band, Legend. Until one night his life was snuffed out at the young age of 29. Now he’s stuck between two worlds because he knows that his death was no accident. With the help of Ruby, he plans to find out why he died so tragically and maybe even help her live the full life that she deserves.
“You’re only here once. You don’t lie on your deathbed regretting all the fun you’ve had. It’s the things you haven’t done, that are the real bummer.”
Rock My World was such an unexpected gem! It was a poignant journey through love, loss and finding happiness where least expect it. Julie’s whip-smart humour and unique style had me laughing out loud one moment and then shedding tears the next. Her story and the remarkable characters that she created will stay with me for a long time...
