Recently traded to the newly formed Vermont Trailblazers, professional hockey player Roman Kinsey needs to focus on helping the team win games and filling the stands, not on the blond, bespectacled part-timer who works at the library he volunteers at. He knows all too well that outing himself equals heartache and ridicule…or worse.

Cody Evans, psych major and grad school hopeful, notices everything and thinks too much. But he doesn’t know what to think when he sees Roman reading to kids. The rugged hockey player just doesn’t look like the type. But it stirs something in him, something he’s never felt before.

When the library is threatened with closure, Cody enlists Roman’s help. As they get to know each other better...much, much better...they realize that they have more in common than books. But Roman’s keeping a big part of himself from his team, and giving in to his feelings for Cody might be more than he’s willing to risk.

Exclusive Guest Post From Amy!

Thank you for joining me to celebrate the release of my newest m/m sports romance, Shots on Goal, and thank you to Agents of Romance for allowing me to briefly take over the blog!

Shots on Goal (Stick Side #3) is the third book in the Stick Side series, and although the characters from the previous books do make an appearance, Shots can be read as a standalone. It’s the story of Cody Evans, who first made an appearance as the best friend in the first book, and Roman Kinsey, the teammate of my NHL player from the second book.

On the surface, Cody and Roman are polar opposites. Roman: prickly NHL player. Cody: optimistic college senior. They meet when Roman is sent to volunteer for Tiny Tot Storytime at the small town library Cody works at. When that library comes under threat, Cody and Roman grow closer as they try to save it from those who’d rather see it shut down.

When I first started writing Shots on Goal, I had a very good idea of who Roman Kinsey was. I knew his entire backstory and how it had affected his life and who he’d become because of it. Roman hasn’t had it easy and it’s led to him keeping the world at arm’s length.

Enter Cody. Although he’s dealing with his own issues stemming from a decision his parents made a long time ago, Cody isn’t afraid to take risks and go after what he wants. He’s also a psychology major, so he’s very, very good at reading people—and he’s not fooled by Roman’s prickly exterior. He likes what he sees in Roman, despite Roman’s attempts at keeping distance between them with brusque and gruff behaviour. There’s more to Roman than meets the eye, and Cody isn’t blind to it.

I knew when I was writing this novel that Roman needed a counterpart who has a tendency to see the good in the world. Someone optimistic to Roman’s pessimistic. And I knew that Cody needed someone who was willing to grow and change in order to put the past behind them. What I ended up with was a feel-good, opposites-attract romance set in the midst of a cold Vermont winter. I hope you enjoy it!

Amy's lived with her head in the clouds since she first picked up a book as a child, and being fluent in two languages means she's read a lot of books! She first picked up a pen on a rainy day in fourth grade when her class had to stay inside for recess. Tales of treasure hunts with her classmates eventually morphed into love stories between men, and she's been writing ever since. She writes evenings and weekends—or whenever she isn't at her full-time day job saving the planet at Canada's largest environmental non-profit.

An unapologetic introvert, Amy reads too much and socializes too little, with no regrets. She loves connecting with readers.
